I want to take a few minutes to brag on Walker Physical Therapy. Our experience has been excellent! Gabby and Sarah are both amazing working with my 3 year old granddaughter. There is a lot of flexibility when it comes to her home visits and they even work in extra visits whenever possible. We have seen tremendous improvement in her strength and ability. They never give up on her and with their help and guidance we know it’s just a matter of time before she’s walking all by herself. Thanks Gabby and Sarah for pushing our girl to reach her goals

Shannon is an awesome therapist. She's smart, reliable, and truly cares about her kids. When she first started working with my son, he couldn't sit up. Now he's taking small steps! She's definitely a blessing to our family, and I would highly recommend her to any other family in need of therapy for their little one.

"Now he's taking small steps!"

Parents Love Us

I’ve been passionate about pediatric physical therapy since I first began my journey in the field. I graduated 2013, and since then, I’ve had the privilege of working with children of all ages throughout upstate SC to help them overcome physical challenges and achieve their full potential.

My focus has always been on providing individualized, compassionate care to each child I work with. Whether it's helping a toddler take their first steps, assisting a school-aged child with strength and mobility, or supporting a teenager through rehabilitation or navigating a life-long diagnosis, I love seeing the progress my patients make and being a part of their journey toward greater independence.

I

With over a decade of experience in pediatrics, I’ve honed a deep understanding of the unique needs and challenges children face when it comes to movement and development. I believe in working closely with families, creating a supportive environment, and developing personalized therapy plans that empower children to thrive both physically and emotionally.

My team is committed to staying up-to-date with the latest research and therapy techniques to ensure that every child receives the highest quality of care. Our goal is always to make therapy fun, engaging, and effective—because when kids enjoy their therapy, they’re more motivated to reach their goals! Thank you for considering us as a partner in your child’s journey. We look forward to helping your family every step of the way.

Pediatric Physical Therapist

I graduated from the University of St. Augustine with my doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2018. I spent the first 4 years of my career working with adolescents and adults in an outpatient orthopedic clinic, with a pelvic floor specialization. Two years ago, I made the switch joining Walker PT and Wellness team to provide in home pediatric care to infants, toddlers and young adolescents with a variety of diagnoses.
Combining my orthopedic knowledge and background with a passion working with children has truly filled my cup as a practitioner. Nothing brings me greater joy than working with families and children to help then achieve milestones and meet their goals.

FAQs

If you are trying to determine whether your child needs physical therapy, keep an eye out for the following issues:

  • Moving only by scooting on their bottom
  • Aversion to tummy time
  • Clicking or popping in their hips
  • Asymmetrical movements, including head movements
  • Development of flat spots on their head
  • Tilting of the head/neck to one side
  • Toe walking
  • Developmental delays
  • Poor balance and frequent falls
Every child is different. Therefore, every child will develop milestones on their own time. However, there are general guidelines that highlight the approximate age your child should reach certain milestones.
  • By 4 to 5 months, your child should begin to roll.
  • By 6 to 7 months, your child should begin to sit up on their own.
  • By 9 to 12 months, your child should begin to crawl.
  • By 12 to 18 months, your child should begin to walk.
  • By 24 months, your child should jump with two feet and catch and throw a ball.
  • By 3 years old, your child should walk up and downstairs independently.
  • By 4 years old, your child should be able to hop on one foot, gallop, and skip.
  • By 5 years old, your child should be able to jump rope, hopscotch, and ride a bike.

We accept private insurance and cash pay clients. We also accept medicaid, TEFRA and MCO’s (Molina, ATC, Humana, Healthy Blue, Blue Choice). You can call (803) 240-5502 or email with inquiries regarding making an appointment.
Our evaluations typically run an hour. If you have not filled out your parent paperwork packet prior to PT arrival, this will be given to you for you to fill out during the evaluation. PT will obtain details of your child’s past medical history, observe your child in their relaxed state and perform an assessment to obtain a baseline for starting therapy. This assessment will tell you if/how much of a developmental delay your child is experiencing and whether they qualify for services. Depending on if they qualify or not, we will agree on a frequency and duration for therapy sessions.

The answer to this is different for every child. Even children with the same diagnoses will proceed at different rates, so it’s impossible to say with certainty how many sessions you’ll need.
